Hello everyone! Lately, I have been reflecting on my life and the person I am by the power of God with all my failures and all of God’s accomplishments in me. My reflection led my mind to the incomparable glory of God’s word and its impact it has had on my life while I have yet to even scratch the surface of the depths of its riches and wisdom and knowledge.
“His hand clung to the sword.” That is how I want people to describe me. Taken from 2 Samuel 23:10, it described Eleazar of David’s mighty men who warred against the Philistines. Despite how weary his hand became he never let down his sword. His firm grasp froze his hand to the sword. You could not tell where his hand ended and where the sword began. In my hand is the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God (Eph. 6:17). Regardless of the weariness in battle, may I never let go of my Bible.
I am a preacher of the Gospel by lifestyle and a preacher of the Gospel by employment. My allegiance is to God and his Word, not to any human or human creed. My life has been transformed and made whole by God (with miles to go still) and my life’s purpose to help others be transformed and made whole by God too.
This world had to have a beginning. The order of the universe suggests the beginning is an intelligent creator. The moral absolutes of humankind suggests the moral absolutes were created by an intelligent creator. The Bible is a collection of writings by people who called themselves Jews and Christians. It says the intelligent creator is the God of Abraham and Jesus. The Old Testament records verifiable historical details, scientific knowledge millennia beyond its time, and predicts events centuries before they occur. The New Testament records the story of Jesus with verifiable historical details, that is verified by eyewitness martyrs, and that remains undisproven with no corpse of Jesus to be found. The Bible has been kept without substantive corruption as the most well preserved historical document in history to an astronomical degree.
I have not followed my feelings. I followed the facts and logic. I asked questions. I disgusted people with my doubt. I poked holes in people’s beliefs. I questioned unproven beliefs. My allegiance was to truth and that is how I found God. God led me to Jesus. Jesus gave me life.
[Jhn 8:31-32 ESV] 31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
How incomprehensible it would be to understand God, as Paul says, “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!” (Rom 11:33). If a higher power who created this universe had written a book, would not this book be the most prized possession in all the earth? What would this higher power be like? What would it think? How would it behave? Imagine the awesomeness of getting a glimpse into the mind of such a being.
Find a way to communicate with aliens and the world will go insane. Make a machine that allows their cats and dogs to talk and it will be front page news. Publish a book written by the Creator of the universe Himself and how would the world respond? Not as they should, it seems.
That Bible in your house. It deserves to be read. You deserve to know Who made you and why He made you. You deserve to know you are loved. You deserve to know how to live a life worth living. God wants you to know Him. Peace, joy, love, life, these are your inheritance to claim. Cling to the sword.
